DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 951 (marked), 23J, 16S, 14K multicolor gold false box hinge original HC with diamond inset to center rear, gold cuvette, refinished white and green enamel SS fancy dial with gold foil decorations, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#325466. Gross weight of assembled watch 66.2 dwt (102.9 g). A very rare top grade watch, the lever-set Grade 951 has a total production of only 97 made. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition verall, some typical small fine to micro-fine scratches, small spot to barrel bridge near click, small marring of area immediately around balance cock screw; dial has a well-executed refinishing with surface glaze in soft material, some inconsistencies in tone and detail of some of the gold foil elements at perimeter, few fine scratches, minuscule nick to rim of seconds-register hole, small edge nick under bezel at 3:30; fine hands; case front shield is applied a bit off center and appears to be a replacement that was laser welded in more modern times, case otherwise shows virtually no wear, no dents or dings, superb crisp engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
